Batteries contain heavy metals and other potentially harmful elements, requiring disposal in an environmentally responsible manner. Many of the components of batteries can be recycled and most local Councils or community recycling facilities will provide a recycling service. Your local Council website is a good place to start when looking for places to recycle your batteries.
